Steps leading to a popular Isle of Wight seafront promenade have been blocked after a cliff fall in Shanklin.

The steps leading from Littlestairs Road in Shanklin onto the Sandown to Shanklin revetment have become the latest victim of the Island’s crumbling coastline.

The promenade was due to be closed on March 4 for the start of essential improvements by the Isle of Wight Council amid concerns for the public’s safety.

As previously reported, Ventnor also fell victim to another landslip on Friday (February 23), between Ocean View Road and Zig Zag Road.

Meanwhile in Lake, another collapse at the Cliff Gardens sent a safety barrier over the edge.

A temporary fence has been installed by Island Roads.
