The brand, which provides German traditional or modern made-to-measure kitchens, has moved into the Multiplex Building on Coppins Bridge, Furrlongs, Newport.

The unit was previously used by the former Maplin store for storage, and has sat empty since its closure in 2018.

It's now been given a new lease of life thanks to Owen Jefferis and Sean Carr, who are the branch directors.

Having already opened a Kutchenhaus in Bournemouth, the pair handpicked the Isle of Wight for their next venture.

Day-to-day operations at the Newport store will be overseen by manager Peter Webb, customer relations manager Helen Denness and lead designer, Ian Fraser.

Owen told the County Press: "For me personally it's more of an affinity with the Isle of Wight.

"Pete and myself worked on the Isle of Wight with another kitchen company and people here are just friendly.

"It's a lot more relaxed than the mainland and if you do a good job they come back and see you again and again."

Negotiations for the premises started in February last year. A year on, and after a lot of refurbishment works, the store is now officially open.

Peter, who moved to the Island about seven years ago, said: "We offer the German standard of kitchen which is quite different to a normal UK standard kitchen.

"We're also competitive with the local rate.

"It's not that we're a cheaper kitchen company, we offer quality at a competitive rate.

"I know what we offer is different."

Owen and Sean are planning to open another eight store across the south coast.

On February 20, through to February 25, the Newport store is having a welcome week.

Customers are invited along and there will be food and drink.

Kutchenhaus Isle of Wight is open six days a week, 9.30am to 5pm.
