One person has been airlifted to hospital by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and a second person has been take to St Mary's Hospital in Newport after an incident at Church Litten this lunchtime (Friday).  

Emergency service teams were called to the incident outside Marks and Spencer at around 12pm.

Eyewitnesses told the Isle of Wight County Press a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area and roads were closed.

The Isle of Wight NHS Trust says one person was transferred to the mainland by the air ambulance, which landed on Church Litten Park.

A second person was taken by ambulance to St Mary's Hospital.
