EMERGENCY service teams have been called to a major crash involving a van and a bus in Wootton this afternoon (Friday).
It has happened outside the Sloop Inn, on Kite Hill.
UPDATE: Two people have been taken to hospital.
Southern Vectis has revealed one of its passengers was injured during the crash.
Motorists are being urged to avoid the area.
Police, ambulance and fire teams are all in attendance.
A section of the road has been closed, and motorists are advised to find an alternative route.
Traffic is being diverted via The Sloop car park.
Police say a van and a bus collided, and it appears multiple other vehicles have been involved in the incident.
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has also been called to the scene, landing in a field near the Lakeside Park Hotel.
A number of Southern Vectis bus routes have been affected.
Route 9 buses between Ryde and Newport are diverting via Brading and Robin Hill.
Meanwhile, Route 4 buses have been suspended until the road has reopened.

🔸A Shuttle service is operating between Ryde and Binstead Hill.
🔸A shuttle bus will operate from Newport towards Wootton via Staplers and then turn left into Lushington Hill and return back to Newport via Fairlee.
