NEW government data shows the number of patients with Covid being treated at St Mary's Hospital has fallen

Data correct on Tuesday, November 16, and published yesterday (Thursday) shows 18 people occupying a bed at the Newport hospital.

Of those in hospital, five are currently being treated in a specialist ventilation bed, unchanged from last week.

Another patient at the hospital has died after contracting Covid-19, data released yesterday shows.

The latest death was recorded on November 16.

There has been confusion over getting the Covid booster jab on the Isle of Wight.

The Solent NHS Trust had asked people to wait for a letter before booking, so capacity could be focussed on those with highest clinical need first.

However, the government website allows people aged over 50 and in certain categories to book.
