DEVASTATING flooding has hit one of the Isle of Wight's most popular tourist attractions.

One of the worst affected areas of yesterday's flooding was Robin Hill Country Park and the roads around it.

The park has had to close for the morning and staff hope to open again at 1pm today (Monday) after a clear-up operation.

A spokesperson said: "Following the storms and downpour of rain across the Isle of Wight, we are sad to say that the park has sustained significant water damage in various areas.

Isle of Wight County Press:

"As you can see from the images, many of our Lower Valley track ways have washed out, The Parting has overflowed and our rides pit has flooded.

"As a result, we will be working tirelessly (this) morning to repair the damage.

"To ensure we have the time to complete the possible repairs and confirm the park is safe to welcome guests, we will be opening late, from 1pm.

"Please note that the Toboggan Run, Colossus Swinging Galleon and Tractor Train will remain closed until further notice.

"All guests with a visit booked for tomorrow have been contacted via email and we appreciate your understanding whilst our teams work to get the park back into full operation."

The nearby Lynnbottom Tip was also affected yesterday (Sunday).

The household waste recycling centre had to be closed early due to flooding.

Anyone who missed their slot can attend today (Monday) at any time.
