Today (Monday), it was the turn of the Isle of Wight County Press's editor.

Alan Marriott booked a slot at the Riverside Centre in Newport and with the help of the Solent NHS Trust, which is operating the vaccine clinic there, recorded his experience.

Three deaths in hospital were confirmed by the Isle of Wight NHS Trust over the weekend.

New cases of coronavirus were also added to the Isle of Wight's total, which saw the Island's rolling average rate of daily cases rise, against a backdrop of the mass testing of returning secondary school pupils, among others, using lateral flow tests.

Alan, who contracted Covid-19 before Christmas, but who has since made a full recovery, said: "It was heartwarming to see people getting their jabs and the cheerful, respectful way in which staff and volunteers treated people.

"I have had Covid and know how lucky I have been to only have minor symptoms.

"Friends and colleagues have not been so lucky.

"It is important we all get our jabs...and it didn't hurt a bit."
