THERE have been few Covid-19 patients on ventilation beds at St Mary’s Hospital since the start of July.

Latest data, which shows the period from August 1 to October 1, shows no one has occupied a Mechanical Ventilation (MV) bed.

Previous data shows there has only been one patient on an MV bed since April 29 (on July 2).

However, fresh data expected this month is expected to show patients have been on ventilation beds during October.

The NHS data also shows the amount of coronavirus patients occupying beds at the hospital remains low.

There has only been one or two patients in at any one time, in the week from October 26 to November 1.

Between the beginning of August and October 23, there had not been more than one coronavirus patient in St Mary's Hospital at any one time.

The data shows the number of patients admitted in the previous 24 hours where the patient is known to have Covid-19, plus patients diagnosed in hospital with Covid-19 in the previous 24 hours.

One death was reported on October 27 and two on October 31, at the hospital.

The hospital has opened an additional Intensive Care Unit to increase capacity.

There have been 699 cases of coronavirus on the Island since the start of the pandemic.
