The Isle of Wight County Press will feature in hit Sky TV show, Hold the Front Page next week, alongside comedians Josh Widdicombe and Nish Kumar.

Filming for the second series of the comedy took place last year, with the funny duo finding out what it's really like to be local reporters.

As our newest recruits, they were let loose on the Island public and were even allowed to take over the County Press's Facebook page, for some (interesting) Facebook live videos.

From Cowes Week and Princess Anne's arrival, to Sandown Carnival, the floating bridge and the Island's National Poo Museum, reporting for Britain's biggest-selling local weekly newspaper saw them cover a wide range of stories.

Asked what it was like at the poo museum, Nish Kumar said it was an interesting afternoon but revealed he didn't leave his own sample!

He said: "It was eye-opening, and the guy did ask me if I would like to make a deposit, which I did not."

Meanwhile, Josh Widdicombe said he found filming Facebook Lives "incredibly difficult".

He said: "You just feel very exposed, don’t you? And you feel like an idiot. And they think you’re an idiot. Maybe you are an idiot?"

Hold The Front Page looks at local journalism through the eyes of the celebrity cub reporters.

Series one saw the pair visiting newspapers around the country, interviewing guests, writing up stories and delivering news in their quest for a front page.

A synopsis for episode one of series two, titled the Isle of Wight County Press, reads: "The boys develop a bitter rivalry with a fellow journalist, meet Princess Anne, Anneka Rice and some controversial nudists, and get lost at sea in one of the biggest sailing races in the world."

Season two launches with the County Press's episode on Wednesday, April 24 at 9pm.

It can be watched on Sky Max, Sky Showcase and NOW TV.
