An Isle of Wight man has been charged with drink driving after a crash destroyed a cemetery wall.

As the County Press reported, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary was called to the junction of Newport Road and Mill Hill Road at 2.20am on Sunday, March 3.

It was reported that a car crashed into a wall at Northwood Cemetery.

Police also said an altercation was seen occurring between two people inside the vehicle.

Officers attended and found a woman in her 40s with an injury to her head which required treatment, but was not considered life-changing or life-threatening.

Gregg Thomas Wicks, 33, of Upton Road, Ryde, has been charged with driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level is above the limit.

He is due to appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court on March 19.

A 33-year-old man detained on suspicion of common assault has been bailed until April 14.
