A flood alert has been issued for the Isle of Wight's coast for tomorrow (Wednesday).

The Environment Agency has said the tide will be higher than normal in Cowes and East Cowes, due to unsettled weather.

Two weather warnings, for strong winds, have been issued by the Met Office and the Isle of Wight Met Service, respectively.

Islanders are being warned of strong, Southerly Force 5 winds and large waves.

The Environment Agency said: "We continue to monitor the forecast. At Medina Road, near the floating bridge, the tide may rise to be only 0.1m below the top of front door steps.

"As a precautionary measure, and if you have it, we recommend that flood protection is installed at Medina Road one hour before high tide."

Water will be high up slip roads in Cowes, and is likely to affect Medina Road, the Environment Agency said.

In East Cowes, water may cause flooding on Albany Road.

The alert comes into force from 12.15pm.
