Expect unseasonably windy weather to affect the Isle of Wight and other parts of coastal southern England tomorrow (Wednesday), leading to some disruption to travel and outdoor activities, the Met Office has warned.

The worst of the weather in the south will be from 4am tomorrow, until 6pm, forecasters say.

It is the second warning for strong wind - the first came from local forecaster Jamie Russell's IW Met Service and was issued yesterday.

The Met Office said: "Windy conditions, accompanied by showers or longer spells of rain.

"The highest winds will affect the Isles of Scilly and Cornwall from early morning, spreading into other English Channel coastal areas during the morning, with gusts expected to widely reach 45-50 mph and perhaps in excess of 55-60 mph in the most exposed spots, in the far south and southwest of England.

"Later in the afternoon winds will start to slowly ease."
