The current home of the Isle of Wight County Press is being formally advertised on the commercial property market, through Hose Rhodes Dickson Commercial, marking an exciting new chapter for your historic weekly paper, big-hitting website and our Isle of Wight-based team.

The Island's biggest group of media professionals, including our journalists and sales leads, are based here in Pyle Street and it's where we produce our – and your - historic weekly title, which appears online at countypress.co.uk and, since 1884, in print.

This week, we have even been hosting a film crew from Sky, alongside comedians Josh Widdicombe and Nish Kumar, who are filming for their show about local journalism, Hold The Front Page.

Isle of Wight County Press:

123 Pyle Street could soon provide your business with the perfect opportunity to expand - right in the heart of Newport.

The freehold is up for grabs, within walking distance to Newport bus station, shopping areas and amenities - book a viewing through HRD Commercial.

Built in the early 1990s, this red brick office building has been home to the County Press for over three decades.

Over three floors, there is also parking and all the facilities you might expect and alterations can be made if required, with the appropriate permissions.

Co-editors Lori Little and Lucy Morgan said: "This could be about to mark the next exciting chapter in the Isle of Wight County Press's long history.

"We were originally based on Newport High Street, and you can still see the words ‘County Press’ spelled out in old tiles on the front of our former home there.

"When the paper moved to the bespoke current building, in 1992, we had very different needs.

"These days, news has changed and it has become digital first.

"The countypress.co.uk site is the Island's leading news website by some margin (data by Similar Web) and the fact is that we can do our jobs with a smart phone and a laptop. We don't need as much space as we used to.

"It's the perfect opportunity to ensure our town-centre building is put to good use - taken on by a company that can make the most of its potential."
