New double yellow lines have been promised for a rural Isle of Wight road, currently adorned with a rather patchy job.

Lynch Lane in Calbourne hit the headlines last week when new patches of double yellow lines appeared, but only on new strips of Tarmac following WightFibre works.

The utility firm was obliged to install double yellows over the bits of road they had worked on.

It meant they stood out against the faded old lines.

But Island Roads has confirmed the road will soon have a makeover.

A spokesperson said: "This section has already been scheduled for re-painting and, now WightFibre has left the site, the work will be done shortly as road markings are predominantly undertaken in the spring/summer months when we can expect drier conditions."
