Tiny patches of double yellow lines have been painted on a road in Calbourne - the very minimal amount needed to cover newly resurfaced areas.

Works have been undertaken in Lynch Lane by utility company WightFibre, which has met the letter of regulations which states it must make good and reinstate the highway afterwards.

But the lines were so faded before, and the new strips so minimal, it has led to a very unusual patchwork look.

When a similar thing happened in Ventnor a year ago, Island Roads called it unsatisfactory and swiftly made it good.

The County Press has asked Island Roads about the Lynch Lane lines, and whether or not they are intended to be left like that.
