Photos show the aftermath of a boat fire in Whippingham on the Isle of Wight.

Emergency services, including firefighters, coastguard and lifeboat teams, were all called to the River Medina, near The Folly Inn on Friday (24).

The boat was well alight on an offshore pontoon, off Folly Lane.

There were flammables on board, which led to safety fears.

At least five fire appliances, some from Newport and East Cowes, were in attendance.

The County Press spoke to crews at the scene. Smoke could be seen from miles.

Bembridge RNLI and Ventnor and Bembridge Coastguard teams were also called.

Cowes Harbour Commission were also there to assist.

Posting on social media, Bembridge Coastguard said: "Great Joint agency working across a difficult and challenging scene.



"We talked through this very scenario only a month ago with @eastcowesfire73."

The cause of the fire has yet to be established.
