A spokesperson said: "Crews from Newport and East Cowes are currently on the scene of a boat fire near the Folly Inn, Folly Lane, East Cowes.

"One boat is well alight located on an offshore pontoon.

"The call came in just after 3pm and a Coastguard team is also on site to assist."

Bembridge RNLI has been called.

Upon arrival, it's understood a decision will be made over whether to tow the boat.

Two coastguard rescue teams are also in attendance.

Jeff Anderson from Bembridge Coastguard told the County Press at the scene: "We've been called to a privately-owned sailing vessel that is on fire on the middle moorings, just off the Folly, which makes access quite difficult.

"We've got a number of fire service personnel, with the assistance of the Cowes Harbour Commission launches."
