A WOMAN has died after a crash in Carisbrooke Isle of Wight last night (Tuesday).

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the fatal incident.

A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson said: "At about 5.10pm yesterday (Tuesday) we were called to Mountbatten Drive, Carisbrooke, where a purple Peugeot 107 had been involved in a series of collisions with approximately 11 parked cars.

"Members of the public came to the aid of the driver of the Peugeot, a 79-year-old woman from Newport, who was the only person involved in the incident.

"She was taken to hospital, where she sadly died the following morning (Wednesday). Her next of kin have been informed."

The force added: "Following an initial police investigation, we would now like to call on anyone with information who has not already spoken to us to come forward.

"We would particularly like to speak to anyone with relevant dash-cam or CCTV footage of the incident."
