A MAN has been charged following an alleged knifepoint robbery attempt in Sandown on Saturday night (November 12).
Police were called shortly after 10pm with reports that a man had tried to rob a taxi driver, another man in his 40s, in Station Avenue and threatened him with a knife.
The victim drove away, and nothing was stolen.
Following police enquiries, Nicholas Butcher, 37, of Allotment Road in Niton, has been charged with attempted robbery and possession of cannabis.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court this morning (Monday, November 14).
