The Cowes and East Cowes Floating Bridge will be out of action again tomorrow (Monday) - during the morning school run and throughout the morning - to allow for the completion of maintenance work.

The chain ferry ground to halt on Wednesday, due to an electrical fault.

On Saturday afternoon (October 1), it returned to service.

However, it will not be running between 8am and 2pm on Monday, October 3, due to outstanding maintenance work.

A new ‘shoe’ will be fitted, to lessen the noise when the ferry's prow hits the slipway, its operator, the Isle of Wight Council, said.

The foot passenger launch will be in service.

Meanwhile, work continues on Fairlee Road, outside Medina College and the leisure centre.

Temporary traffic lights are in operation, affecting traffic diverting through Newport, while Southern Water carries out 12 weeks of work.
