Two-way lights are in place until December 3, on Cowes Road, between Cowes and Newport.
Delays are already being reported this morning.
From today (Tuesday), Island Roads is thanking motorists for being patient as it carries out work to improve bus stop accessibility and safety.
It is taking place close to the County Showground - near the junction of Cowes Road and Newport Road - and we are warned that delays are possible.
Route 1 buses are affected, says Southern Vectis.
Meanwhile, Ventnor's Mitchell Avenue and Havenstreet's Main Road were both closed for emergency work yesterday. Mitchell Avenue has since reopened.
Work is also underway at Coppins Bridge Roundabout in Newport.
