ANOTHER Covid-19 death has been recorded at St Mary's Hospital.

The latest death — recorded on October 26 — means 183 Newport hospital patients have now died since March 2020, after getting coronavirus.

It is the eighth death this month.

There has also been a further 145 deaths in the Island's community (at home, in care homes, in a hospice and other non-hospital settings).

On Tuesday, it was revealed the most recent community death was in a hospice, in the week to October 15.

New cases are being confirmed at a rate of around 100 per day on the Isle of Wight.

The latest Covid case data, released yesterday, saw the Isle of Wight total surpass 15,000.

Public Health England figures revealed the age group most affected remains ten to 14 year olds, with a rolling rate of 2,633 as of yesterday (Wednesday).

"Don't listen to anti-vaxxers" is the strong message from the Isle of Wight Council's lead health and social care councillor.

It comes as Covid rates on the Island fluctuate slightly but still remain high.

As the spread of Covid again continues to pick up speed, Isle of Wight councillors are urging those who are not already vaccinated to get a jab.
