A WOMAN arrested after a fire in a Ventnor garage has been released under investigation.

Enquiries are ongoing, following the fire at Spring Gardens on Saturday evening.

A 39-year-old woman from Shanklin, who was treated for smoke inhalation, has been released under investigation, after being arrested on suspicion of arson and committing an act or series of acts with intent to pervert the course of public justice.

The detached garage, which stands alone from a property in Spring Gardens, off Madeira Road, was cordoned off while police officers investigated.

The fire originated from a small bag of rubbish, fire officials said.
