POLICE are investigating a fire, which broke out in a garage in Ventnor last night.
The detached garage, which stands alone from a property in Spring Gardens, off Madeira Road, has been cordoned off.
Police are at the scene this morning, as part of an investigation into what happened.
There is no official statement as yet, about the situation, police confirmed to the County Press. An update is expected this afternoon.
There were believed to be two people in the garage initially, with a woman treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, and taken to St Mary's Hospital in Newport.
The emergency call came in at 6.53pm yesterday (Saturday), and two police vehicles, paramedics and four fire engines were deployed to the scene. The entire road was blocked for the evening.
The fire originated from a small bag of rubbish, fire officials said yesterday.
