EMERGENCY service teams have been called to another road traffic collision on the Isle of Wight today (Friday) ­— this time in Freshwater.

At 6.40pm, a single fire crew from Freshwater was called to the scene on School Green Road.

Police and ambulance are also in attendance. 

County Press readers have reported a pedestrian was involved in the collision, close to West Wight Sports Centre. 

A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire and Rescue said one female casualty was passed into the care of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and taken to hospital. 

The road has been closed in both directions and the incident is ongoing.

Southern Vectis says the 6.20pm Route 7 bus from Freshwater Sainsbury's to Newport, via Shalfleet, has been severely delayed.

It will operate again once the road is clear.

A spokesperson for Freshwater Fire Station said: "Our co-responder, fire crew, the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and police were all called to an RTC involving a car and a bicycle in Freshwater this evening. 

"Our co-responder provided the initial emergency response, with assistance requested from Freshwater fire crew to assist with scene safety and casualty care, before passing one adult female into the care of the ambulance service.

Earlier today, a woman was freed from a car in Cowes following a crash on Victoria Road.

Cowes Fire Station said the crash had happened "almost outside the station doors".
