A MAN charged with robbing a convenience store — armed with a knife and a bottle of acid — has today (Monday) appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court.

Reece Chilcott, 28, of no fixed address, has been charged with one count of robbery and two counts of possessing an offensive weapon.

He did not enter a plea.

As reported, police issued an appeal following the robbery at the Central convenience store in Hunnyhill, Newport, on Boxing Day.

The case was adjourned to the Isle of Wight Crown Court on February 5.

Mr Chilcott was remanded in custody.
