It's FA Cup heartbreak for both East Cowes Vics and Cowes Sports on the Isle of Wight as both teams bowed out with defeats this afternoon (Saturday, August 8).

Cowes Sports faced Hamble at home in the extra-preliminary round of the cup, hoping to advance to the next stage.

The Yachtsmen started brightly, with Jordan COOK putting the Islanders one goal up in the 25th minute.

However, the visitors struck back quickly, equalising in the 39th minute and squaring up the tie into the break.

In the ascendancy, Hamble came swinging in the second half and added to their tally in the 54th and 87th minute, curtailing any Cowes hopes of a cup run at the first hurdle.

It was a similar story the other side of the River Medina, as East Cowes Vics took on Stoneham.

Neither team found a way through in the first half, but the visitors scored immediately after the break.

A second, against the run of play, came shortly after.

A raft of substitutions couldn't save Vics from the deficit and the Islander's run finished in 90 minutes.
