THE 2026 Royal Ocean Racing Club's popular De Guingand Bowl Race set off from Cowes into a brisk Solent test on Saturday.
Tidal pressure and tight Island waters quickly turned the contest into a battle of timing, boat handling and local knowledge.
Overall victory on IRC went to Harry Heijst's S&S 41 Winsome, whose experienced crew managed The Solent's complex conditions with precision, to secure the win after IRC time correction.
Ben Owens and Luke Lawrence, racing double-handed on the JPK 1010 Leonard, produced a stand-out performance to take second overall, in 13mins 29secs behind Winsome, with Mark Brown's JPK 1010 Jetpack third.
The race for monohull line honours unfolded in a dramatic Solent duel, with Nick and Jacquetta Edmonds' J/45 Stickleback taking the gun in 14.12.14, only 73 seconds ahead of Cowes-based Derek Shakespeare's J/122 Bulldog, after a hard-fought beat to the finish.
Multihull honours went to Peter Coote's Dazcat 1295 Slinky Malinki.
Across the classes, Black Sheep won IRC One, while Rogan Josh claimed IRC Two by just 55 seconds.
Meanwhile, in IRC Three, Fujitsu British Soldier led a tightly packed podium ahead of Il Corvo and Bellino.
The double-handed division underlined the race's intensity, with Leonard taking the win from Il Corvo and Bellino in a highly competitive fleet.
