Master long-jumper Emily Fry from the Isle of Wight has impressed at her first attempt at the World Masters Championship in Sweden.
The British Masters W40 star marked her presence with a 7th-place finish on August 30.
The colossal gathering in Gothenberg comprised around 8,000 Masters athletes from various countries, testing their mettle in track and field disciplines.
The long jump competition saw 27 athletes on the starter's list.
Usually, they would compete in two separate groups before being narrowed down to a final eight.
However, due to limited officials, the event ended up being contested as a whole.
This format resulted in longer waits between each athlete's initial three jumps, which were crucial for making the top eight.
It was a challenging day sprinkled with trials as a sudden bout of rain drenched all the competitors just as they left the call room.
Despite these hurdles, Fry clinched a spot among the final eight, recording a praiseworthy jump of 4.89m.
The victor of the day was an Estonian athlete who won by jumping 5.33m, in a hotly contested field.
