Children under the age of 11 from across the Island were welcomed to Sandown to compete in the first edition of the ‘Isle-Impix’ Quadkids Championship.

The Isle of Wight’s most athletic U11’s competed in the following four events: 75m sprint, long jump, Vortex Howler throw and 600m run, held at the Ray Scovell Athletics Centre, the former Fairway running track, on Saturday.

Points were awarded, as in any other multi-event competition, in accordance with the performance of the athlete in each discipline.

And in the spirit of the 2024 Paris Olympics, the champions were invited to ‘ring the bell’ upon receiving their gold medal.

Despite there being fierce competition on display, the organisers were diligently promoting the return of the Isle of Wight U11’s Athletic Club at the Bay CE School, on September 9, from between 5pm and 5:50pm.
