Isle of Wight runners have been achieving personal bests, at recent half marathons.

Four members of the Ryde Harriers running group were among those pounding the south's streets, and recording fantastic times.

At the competitive Bath Half Marathon, on Sunday, Mach 17, Dan Eckersley finished in 68 minutes 55 seconds. He'd passed the 10km point in 32 minutes 44 seconds and finished in 25th place.

Meanwhile, team-mate Chris Newnham clocked 33 minutes 18 seconds at the 10km point, before finishing in 71 minutes 13 seconds, in 47th place.

On March 24, in the Fleet Half Marathon, Dave Hunt and Carly Scoble tackled closed town centre roads.

Dave's even pace saw him pass the 10km point in 55 minutes and 40 seconds, ahead of a huge personal-best finish time of 73 minutes 27 seconds. He came first in the Men’s 40 category and 29th overall, in a field of around 4,000 athletes.

At the same event, an aggressive start saw Carly running with a big group.

She went through the 10km mark quicker than her best time and hit 10 miles in 62 minutes 53 seconds.

Carly crossed the finish line in 83 minutes 43 seconds - 14th out of 2,168 female runners and third in her V35 category.
