RYDE C took back the lead at the top of the Division 1 table of the Isle of Wight Table Tennis League with back-to-back victories.

The first was a 9-1 drubbing of Newport Vics A, with Paul Rainford, Ryan Cates and Graham Evans were all on top form for Ryde.

Ryde C were also in action again against Shanklin A, which they found a little harder. 

Shanklin’s Mike Bulpitt won two games, while team-mate Don Hobbs won one in a 7-3 defeat to Ryde.

Two mid-table Ryde teams, the Goshawks and the Ravens, enjoyed a close match with some exciting games.

The Goshawks' Ricky Lock was on top form, winning all three, while team-mate Conal Howells won two.

The Ravens' Spike Hughes played particularly well to also take two, with the match ending 7-3 to the Goshawks.

In Division 2, just two matches were played, with Ryde Rascals winning easily — beating Ryde Allsorts 9-1, with John Featherstone player of the match.

Wootton Wanderers also had an easy match against Ryde Lizards, which they took 8-2. Wootton’s Guy Golbourn was player of the match. 

The Rascals went back into second place, just one point ahead of Wootton, although Newport Vics C stay top with a 22-point margin.

In Division 3, Newport Vics D extended their lead at the top to 28 points after a 10-0 victory over Ryde Frogs.
