The Isle of Wight's Wessex League football clubs finished the day with mixed results including a win for East Cowes Vics.

Cowes Sports were home to Sherbourne Town in the Wessex League Premier Division, at Westwood Park, but it ended in disappointment.

Cowes 0,  Sherbourne Town 1, was the final score.

Cowes said: "A very frustrating game with a lot of possession and play into the box, we just couldn’t be clinical. We want to thank the fans for joining us and bringing the noise again today, you make a difference!"

Sherbourne's goal came in the 24th minute and Cowes remained goal-less due to a mixture of frustrations on the pitch.

In Division One, it was a 2-1 win for East Cowes Vics, at home to New Milton Town.

The first goal came courtesy of Ji Nash, just before half-time in the 44th minute.

New Milton equalised in the second half and it was a tense watch for the fans all the way through to the 92nd minute when Brad Young scored to win the match for his team.

Vics posted: "Not far off being the final kick of the game is the winner!!! Deserved win in the end!"

Newport FC were at the BJM Stadium, and lost 2-0 to Hamworthy Recreation.

They posted: "Finishes 2-0 here and a really good effort from Port who worked tirelessly throughout. All credit to Hamworthy, great hosts and some really good banter. Man of the match goes to Matt Oatley."

 

Hamworthy quickly took the lead, with goals in the 26th and 34th minutes, going into the second half well ahead, and Newport unable to find the back of the net throughout the game.
