The Isle of Wight Man v Fat football team travelled to Eastbourne to take on their opponents in the quarter-finals of the Southern League Cup.

Eastbourne MvF 1 - 1 Isle of Wight MvF

The game started fairly even, but just after five minutes, there was some confusion in the Islander’s box.

A corner came in from Eastbourne’s Matt Burman, which was punched clear by the IoW keeper, only to find the awaiting Kieran Hill, who smashed home.

From there, the Islanders kept peppering the Eastbourne goal, with Colin Jackson and Mike Burton among those to miss great chances.

Eastbourne used the clearing balls to break forward and give their defence a breather for most of the half.

The second half was almost entirely played in the Eastbourne half, with the IW keeper having just two touches.

Mid-way through the second half, IoW thought they had an equaliser, only for it to be disallowed for a foul on the keeper.

Eventually, however, the Islanders got the goal they deserved, which was the last kick of the game, thanks to new boy Kevin Cox, who turned and curled the ball into the bottom corner.

Penalties it was, and the IoW stepped up first.

Great saves from both keepers meant it was 2-2 after five penalties each, until Andy Wyatt sliced his spot-kick wide, leaving Eastbourne to smash home the winner.
