THERE was plenty of action for racing enthusiasts to sink their teeth into in the fourth round of Wight Karting’s winter series.

The event saw 14 drivers take part in three exciting race heats, split across two classes: light and middle weight.

With the weather holding up all morning, onlookers we were treated to spectacular on-track action, with numerous high-speed overtakes in both categories.

In the lightweight class, Melissa Etherington stormed to two consecutive race wins.

A second-place finish in the final race rounded off a fantastic morning for Mel, who with 37 points, secured her first ever WKRKC round win.

Louis Thornton finished a close second in the first two races of the day, before falling to a sixth-place finish in the third and final race.

He still did enough to claim second place with 31 points.

Third place went to David Ely, who had it all to do going into the final race of the round and certainly delivered.

With a race victory, David ended on 26 points.

In the middleweight class, Jack Goring once again took the title.

With another imperious display from the young man, totalling 38 points, the question remains: Can anyone stop his dominance?

Simon Johnstone delivered a big performance out on track with a third, second and first place finish, securing second place on 34 points.

Max Downer snuck into the top three with 25 points, beating Dale Hunt by a single point.

A very close finish to the final race left spectators on the edge of their seats.

The fifth round kicks off on February 11.
