NEWPORT Rowing Club's rollercoaster season came to a successful climax in Poole at the weekend.

After a season of mistakes, mishaps and bad luck, the Men's Novice A crew bagged a win in the Hampshire and Dorset Amateur Rowing Association Regatta season finale, at Hamworthy Park.

Boris Hare, Connor Garner, Nathaniel Hamilton and Harry Hare, coxed by Marianna Hare, overcame further problems in the final when Nathaniel's sliding seat stopped sliding.

The crew showed composure to carry on and win the race.

The J16 crew of Boris Hare, Will Loveday- Powell, Hayden Tiffin and Artur Rozvodovski, coxed by Vlad Galai, had a terrific race, vying for the lead with Shanklin and Sandown throughout.

They were just pipped on the line to finish second.
