IT WAS a busy week of racing for Bembridge Sailing Club, both in midweek and at the weekend.

On Monday, seven Redwings and two One-Designs made the trip to Seaview for the second day of the Seaview Yacht Club Regatta.

Mark Downer was the pathfinder, and led the way round a challenging, complex course, ahead of Joe Robertson and Henry Thorpe.

It was a different, but equally challenging course for the One-Designs.

Charles Abel Smith showed his class to edge ahead of Richard Hall and extended his lead during each leg of the course.

Ten J70s then competed in the annual J70 weekend, now in its seventh year.

Tom Preston’s experience showed as he picked up the first of eight wins across the weekend.

Ed Eddy, Rosie Gosling and Archie Hinde also tasted victory across the weekend.

Five Redwings and six One-Designs also competed at the event, and it was Mark Downer who clinched top spot once again, ahead of Bruce Huber.

For the One-Designs, Ross Fowler held his nerve to finish some 25 seconds ahead of Jos Coad.

The very next day, James Quail got the better of Downer after numerous wind shifts, and Alexander Ross beat Sarah Marshall and Jos Coad for the One-Designs.
