SUE Cox was the pick of the bunch when Ryde Golf Club held its Dorothy Williams Cup competition last week.

And just a few days later, members competed for the Borough of Ryde Cup.

Rose Green and Judi Hume placed third in the latter on 32pts, with Marian Johnston and Tricia Warner in second, and Sally Yardman and Tricia Penn third.

Bob Tyrrell, the seniors captain, won the President's Trophy on Friday, August 11.

A great score of 43 stableford points beat Trevor Wheeler in second place, with Allan Stitt third.

Patricia Ball, club president, presented the prizes and thanked all 44 of those who took part.

Meanwhile, at Westridge, Chris Royl (40pts) topped the 18-hole stableford in division one, ahead of Chris Wilkinson and Ming Choi.

In division two, Melvyn Probyn (42) beat out stiff competition from Grenville Shipley and Chris Boulter, and in division three, Martyn Wakefield got the better of David Shoulder and Jacky Cook.

Gary Cass (16) beat Frank Brazier and Ming Choi in a nine-hole stableford, and Sally Hardy (162) came out ahead of Nicki Glasgow and Helen Whitaker in the 36-hole ladies championship scratch.

In the 36-hole ladies championship handicap competition, Sally Hardy took first place on 130pts, ahead of Nicki Glasgow and Jo Tucker.

Jeffery Foster (40) was the winner of a second 18-hole stableford, beating Gary Cass and Darren Abbott.
