WIGHT Tri held the second of their Summer Splash and Dash Series events on the Isle of Wight — the Yaverland Aquabike.

There was a choice of a 250m or 400m sea swim, and a 10.50km or 19.50km cycle ride out to Bembridge and back from Yaverland.

As it was a nominated event, the winner closest to their nominated time was Lucy Doorly, who finished 39 seconds outside her time of 55 minutes, for the long course swim and bike.

Doorly beat Chris Till, who finished two minutes and 18 seconds out, after posting a speedy 37.42 for the long course.

Fastest on the long course was Till, who also posted the fastest bike split of 29.07, which is believed to be a course record.

Doorly was fastest female in 55.39, with Annette Hickman (32.43) and Roy Young (29.28) fastest on the short course.

The next event in the series is the Gurnard Aquathlon, today (Friday), at Gurnard Sailing Club starting at 6.30pm.
