SATURDAY'S cricket for Isle of Wight teams was a total washout with the unseasonable wet weather and high winds that even some of the world's best sailors found hard to contend with in the 50th Rolex Fastnet Race.

However, Ventnor have a chance to put their recent poor form behind them against a side on a wretched run of form, Hook and Newnham Basics, in Division 1 of the Southern Premier League, at Steephill tomorrow (Saturday).

The visitors go into the game with a run of six losses from their last seven, the first of them in the reverse fixture against Ventnor in May.

Ventnor have lost four of their last five.

In Hampshire Division 1, Ryde host East Woodhay, a side in good form, in a mid-table battle at Harding Shute.

Shanklin and Godshill have an opportunity to cement their mid-table place when they make the trip to the New Forest to face struggling Sway II in Hampshire 3 (South).

In Hampshire 4 (South), fourth-placed Ryde II make the trip to mid-table Burridge III, aiming to start an amazing winning run that could take them into the promotion reckoning.

Meanwhile, top of the league Ventnor II have a tricky game at Portsmouth and Southsea III lying in sixth.

In Division 2 of the Island League, Northwood II take on Ryde III in a dead rubber for promotion, with Cowes seemingly unstoppable.

The Isle of Wight Senior Cup returns though, with Arreton needing a win to keep their hopes alive, against St Helens who will be in pole position to reach another final if they win, in Group 1.

In Group 2, cup favourites Newport travel to bottom side Freshwater, while Carisbrooke High School Old Boys can keep their slim chances of beating Newport to the final in they can beat Cowes away.
