Isle of Wight athletes struck gold on the penultimate day of Island Games 2023 in Guernsey.

TeamIOW are on course for a top five finish in the medal table going into the final day of action.

They're now up to fifth, with 34 medals - 13 gold, 14 silver and seven bronze.

The impressive tally has ensured this tournament is the most successful away games for TeamIOW since 1999.

Nick Percy claimed gold in the men's discus, and set a games' record in the process.

In the pool, swimmer Abi Lacey won gold in the 100m individual relay.

Isle of Wight County Press:

It was a clean sweep for TeamIOW in the individual men's clay shooting, with Dan Bishop striking gold, Lee Pitman taking silver and Mark Downer winning bronze.

And it was a similar story in the women's event as Katie Bishop, who is maried to Dan, took silver, while Jennie Cartwright topped the podium with a gold.

Imogen Reed added two more silvers to her medal collection - one in an individual event and another with her sister, Shelley Sprack.

TeamIOW men's sailors (Alex Downer, Charlie White, Harry White and Noah Evans) also claimed a silver.

In the football, it wasn't to be for TeamIOW despite an impressive performance against Jersey in the semi-finals.

They were defeated 3-2, but will be hoping to claim a bronze medal in the third place play-off against Bermuda later.

Today's highlights include more track, badminton and shooting action.

The games will come to an end with a closing ceremony later.
