TeamIOW's men are through to the semi-finals of the Island Games after defeating hosts Guernsey in tonight's football.

Two goals from striker Jake Scrimshaw saw the Isle of Wight side edge out their opponents, 2-1.

The win takes TeamIOW a step closer to silverware.

Hosts Guernsey only needed a point coming into tonight's game to qualify for the semis.

But it was TeamIOW who struck first.

Former AFC Bournemouth forward Scrimshaw scored the opener, beating goalkeeper Hamon at the edge of the box and slotting home in the 16th minute.

The goal moved TeamIOW above their opponents in the table.

As the game approached half-time, TeamIOW were awarded a penalty which Scrimshaw tucked away.

Guernsey came out fighting in the second-half but it was TeamIOW who were awarded another penalty.

This time it could not be coverted.

The hosts managed to pull one back after converting a spot kick of their own shortly afterwards.

TeamIOW managed to hang on however.

They go through to the semi-finals having topped the group.

Final score: Guernsey 1-2 TeamIOW.
