Island Games 2023 has warned everyone to take great care online as a bombardment of scam links continue to be posted across social media accounts.

The bi-annual Games' full programme of sporting events got underway yesterday (Sunday), spurring a wave of scam accounts trying to trick you into handing over your details.

Accounts posing as Island Games pages, groups, and organisers on Facebook have been commenting under the official and local sports team posts with a link to stream the Games for ‘free’.

The stream then requests your bank account details in order to watch live streams.

The official Guernsey2023 said: “They are criminals, so please, do not enter your bank details into any site offering live streams of the Games because you risk getting scammed.

“Live streams and live tracking are all available for FREE through our website.”

You can find the official links via www.guernsey2023.gg and the @Guernsey2023 YouTube channel.

The Isle of Wight County Press is running a live blog throughout the week on our website, keeping you up-to-date with all the latest TeamIOW news, photos, videos and results.
