THE annual Chris Norman Memorial Cup match provided plenty of entertainment in Seaview.

The football match, at the Pavilion, was between a Seaview FC team and a legends side of past club players, bossed by former Seaview manger Luke Clarke.

Played on a warm day, the Legends won 3-1.

Chris Norman is a legendary name at Seaview Football Club. He was a player, manager, groundsman, committee member, fundraiser, treasurer, chairman and president — in fact, there was nothing connected to the club he was not involved in.

The 72-year-old, from the 1950s as a fan, and throughout the rest of his life, Chris lived and breathed Seaview FC.

He played for Seaview almost every season between 1962 and 1991.

Each year since his death, in May 2019, the club has hosted the Chris Norman Memorial Cup in his honour — an event supported by his wife, Sue, and family.

Sue also funded a new trophy cabinet dedicated to his memory, so the cup had a home at the ground.

Annually, current and past players and supporters have taken part in this competition.
Seaview FC's captain, James Crofts, said: "The appetite to be involved on both sides is a testament to the late Chris, whose love of the game was infectious."

The cup was presented to Legends captain, Tom Bello, by the family of Chris Norman.
