THE Ryde-based Isle of Wight Indoor Bowls Club brought their A-games for the final matches of the 2022/2023 season.

In the ladies championship, Maggie Lawley and Anne Bernard battled it out, with the latter winning 21-18, booking her place in the national finals in Nottingham.

In the ladies senior singles, Maggie got the better of Sandra Aldridge, winning 21-13.

The men’s championship, meanwhile, saw Darren Griffin and Alan Cawdell compete.

Darren continued his fine run of form, winning 21-7 to also book his place in the national finals.

John Rich, meanwhile, beat Ron Bavin in the mixed vet singles (21-15), and Alan found his usual form to make short work of Bob Mortlock (21-4).

In the mixed Aussie pairs, it all rested on one final shot, and Bob and Sandra narrowly beat Ron Leleux and Anne (17-16).

In the mixed novice single, a close game between John Rich and Kev Watts saw the latter clinch the win (21-17), while Alan and Brian Taplin got the better of Bob and Ian Morey in the men’s pairs.
