THE Isle of Wight Indoor Bowls Club put the recent disappointment of losing the semi-final of the National Denny Plate behind them with a superb set of weekend results.

Four of its individual teams qualified for the National Championships.

These matches are for the last 16 competitors in the country, to be played at the famous Nottingham Indoor Bowls Club, from the end of the month through to mid April.

Gay Allen, Carol Walton, Steff Ball and Anne Barnard sailed through in the ladies’ fours and will play their first game on April 3.

Top Island player, Darren Griffith, has reached the last 16 in three separate competitions.
In the men’s singles, Griffiths will play his first game on March 27.

He will team up with Jack Berry to play in the pairs two days' later.

With the addition of Alan Cawdell, they will then play in the triples, which starts on April 13.

If they win that game, they are likely to meet a team led by renowned player and TV commentator, Greg Harlow.
