IT WAS a night to forget for East Cowes Vics after their seven-game unbeaten run came to an end with a tough away defeat at Fawley AFC.

Fawley AFC 3-0 East Cowes Vics

A resurgent Vics travelled across the Solent in search of revenge at Fawley after their opponents had travelled to East Cowes to pump seven past them in December.

Sadly, it was not to be, as the Island side’s troubles began early, Fawley’s Dylan Knight found the net on the 15-minute mark.

Vics managed to keep the game at 1-0 through to half time, but just past the hour mark, James Clifton fired into the top left of Alex Ram’s net to put the mainlanders two up.

Clifton was not finished yet, as he made it a brace ten minutes later when a superbly threaded ball between multiple defenders found the Fawley striker, who calmly chipped it into the far corner.

Vics will hope to continue their impressive 2023 form in Division One at home to high-flying Downton on Saturday (February 25), aiming to shrug off their first defeat in eight matches.
