SATURDAY was a great day for the Isle of Wight Hockey Club, with all four senior teams tasting victory.

                                  ISLE OF WIGHT MEN’S I 4, PETERSFIELD I 1
A BRACE apiece from Stephen Woodford and Will Mew helped Isle of Wight put Petersfield to the sword at Smallbrook.

From the first whistle, Isle of Wight piled on the pressure, with an attack resulting in Woodford lobbing the keeper to put them in front.

Good link up play from Henry Edwards helped Woodford grab his second goal.

After going close, Adam Payne slipped the ball through to Mew to sweep into the bottom corner for 3-0.

Ethan Edmunds-Lamb intercepted a Petersfield player and fed Edwards, who slung the ball to Mew to finish.

Slick passing led to a late consolation goal for Petersfield.

ISLE OF WIGHT LADIES I 2, HAVANT II 1
THE Islanders went into their game focused on a win, but it was Havant who opened the scoring  after a strike snuck under the keeper’s pads.

Isle of Wight did not have to wait long to level the contest.

Evie Fairhurst went on a run and passed to Sarah Shaw, who fired in from the top of the D.

With all to play for in the second half, the Island took the lead — Carolyn McClellan sweeping the ball home after a cross evaded the keeper.

Havant piled on the pressure, but Isle of Wight held out for the win.

PORTSMOUTH IV 2, ISLE OF WIGHT MEN'S II 7
A RAMPANT Island men's seconds side hammered Portsmouth's fourth team.

A pass from Thomas Young gave Nick Pratt his chance to open the scoring — firing in through the keeper's legs.

It was followed up by a screamer from Young on the D.

Portsmouth were content on just smashing the ball clear, but Pratt added his second before half-time.

The hosts pulled one back early in the second half to make it 3-1, but Isle of Wight responded with a Carl Joyce strike.

Continued pressure led to short corners and three further goals, scored by Pratt, for his treble, Bruce at the back post and unmarked Joyce, his second.

Late on, Portsmouth scored their second.

THE Isle of Wight ladies' seconds also faced Portsmouth and clocked up a huge win.

In a totally dominant performance, the ladies scored at regular intervals, with Sophie Parkhouse and Megan Bridger bagging hat-tricks, Dee Sanchez-Brown grabbed a brace and Aly Townend the other.
