SPEEDWAY-starved fans on the Isle of Wight following the Wightlink Warriors team will be able to see them in action as a live streamed broadcast tonight (Tuesday).
The Warriors have been invited to take part in a test meeting at Plymouth’s Colliseum Stadium — a three-team tournament that will also include an Eastbourne select team, as well as the Devon club's hosts.
Having satisfied all appropriate Covid-19 regulations laid down by British Speedway’s governing body and the local authority in Plymouth, the hosts will be admitting a limited number of paying spectators in a regulated and controlled environment.
All 400 tickets for the event are sold out.
Covid-19 had effectively stopped the speedway season dead in its tracks, so the Warriors team were delighted to get the chance to take part in tonight's event.
Warriors co-promoter Barry Bishop said: "It’s great news that we can look forward to some track action, although we are very conscious the meeting will be conducted and managed in a very structured way.
"Ambitious Plymouth promoter Mark Phillips and his team have worked really hard to get to this stage and I’m delighted the Warriors can help test the new arrangements.
"Speedway promoters up and down the country will be looking at these test events to ensure clubs are in the best possible shape when we come to tapes in 2021."
"I would like to thank Mark for his invitation and also say a big thank you to our riders who, despite being race rusty, all jumped at the chance of competitive action.
"Make no mistake, we’ll be doing our best to win the meeting and contribute to a great night."
The Warriors will line up with Ben Morley, Connor Coles, Tom Woolley and Chad Wirtzfeld while Connor King will feature for the Eastbourne select team.
