FRESHWATER golfer Ryan Harmer is over the moon after he earned his highest-ever career finish on the professional European tour.

The Islander, based at Brockenhurst Manor Golf Club in Hampshire, came second in the latest round of the HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour, at Frilford Heath, Oxfordshire.

Ryan's 13 under par score was two strokes short of Bradley Moore's card, which earned him a tidy £6,000 prize.

His rounds included scores of 68 (twice) and a 67.

Ryan, a member of Shanklin and Sandown Golf Club, said: "My first professional win was pretty close, but it was great to get into contention this week at Frilford Heath on the Europro Tour.

"Time to refresh and prepare for my last three events, which starts in Ireland on August 28."
